Tools
Limited Voucher Selection: Customers may find the available voucher options within the Capitec app limited or not aligned with their preferences and interests.
Capitec can expand its partnership network to include a wider range of retailers, restaurants, and service providers, offering a diverse selection of vouchers that cater to a broader customer base. Regularly updating and expanding the available options would ensure customers have a wider variety of choices.
Inadequate Gift Card Balance Information: Customers may face challenges in accessing and managing their gift card balances, leading to confusion and potential inconveniences during the redemption process.
Capitec should enhance the app's interface to provide users with real-time updates on their gift card balances. This includes displaying the remaining amount on each gift card and sending notifications or reminders when the balance is low or expiring soon. Offering a clear and easily accessible overview of gift card balances would help customers make informed decisions and avoid any unexpected inconveniences.
Difficulty in Sending Gift Cards: Customers may encounter difficulties when attempting to send purchased gift cards to recipients, potentially hindering the overall gifting experience.
Capitec can implement a user-friendly feature within the app that enables customers to easily send gift cards to desired recipients. This could involve incorporating a simple recipient information form, allowing users to input the recipient's email address or mobile number directly in the app. Additionally, providing an option to personalize the gift card with a custom message would enhance the gifting experience.
Lack of Personalized Recommendations: Customers may struggle to find the ideal voucher or gift card option, especially when they are unsure about the recipient's preferences.
Capitec can leverage customer data and transaction history to offer personalized recommendations within the app. By analyzing previous purchasing patterns and preferences, the app can suggest relevant vouchers or gift cards based on individual customer profiles. This would assist customers in finding suitable gifts and improve their overall experience with the app.
Insufficient Voucher Redemption Information: Customers may face difficulties understanding the process and terms for redeeming purchased vouchers, leading to confusion and frustration.
Capitec can provide comprehensive and easily accessible redemption instructions and terms for each voucher within the app. This would include details such as the redemption process, expiration dates, and any specific conditions or restrictions associated with each voucher. Clear and concise information would minimize confusion and ensure a smooth redemption experience for customers.
Limited Redemption Options: Customers may find it restrictive if the purchased vouchers or gift cards can only be redeemed at specific locations or online platforms.
Capitec can work on expanding the redemption options for vouchers and gift cards. By partnering with more retailers and service providers, customers would have a broader range of redemption choices. Additionally, the app could allow customers to search for nearby locations where the vouchers or gift cards can be redeemed, providing convenience and flexibility in selecting redemption points.

To enhance the voucher offerings, we are introduced functionality such as categories and search. Categories make it easier for users to browse and discover vouchers based on specific interests, while the search feature enables them to find vouchers from specific retailers or based on specific keywords. These enhancements provide a seamless and personalized experience for customers, allowing them to quickly find and purchase the vouchers they desire.
We conducted an A/B test using two distinct UX/UI designs that feature slightly different layouts and flows. By conducting this test, we aim to gather valuable insights on user preferences and behaviors to inform the optimization of our voucher purchasing feature.
During the test, users were presented with three scenarios, each involving the purchase of different vouchers. For each scenario, two alternative paths were available, offering users different options to reach their end goal.
By analyzing the outcomes of this A/B test, we gained a deeper understanding of user preferences and behaviors, allowing us to refine and enhance the UX/UI design of our voucher purchasing feature. This iterative approach enabled us to continually improve the user experience and ensure that our platform aligns seamlessly with the needs and expectations of our valued customers.
We set up two Maze tests, each with a different variation of how we will display categories. We sent out the test to 60 participants, 30 per option
The results of both tests indicate that users utilized all three paths to find a retailer: direct from the landing page, via categories, and through search. In the first test, users showed a higher preference for using categories and search compared to the direct path. Conversely, in the second test, users favored the direct path more.
Option one features simple and easily understandable categories, allowing users to select the appropriate category to find their desired retailer. This design proved effective when users knew exactly what they were looking for, as it provided a clear and straightforward path to their desired voucher. On the other hand, option two included categories on a separate page, which were further divided into more detailed subcategories. This design encouraged users to utilize the landing page more frequently to explore and find specific retailers. Option two proved more suitable for users who wanted to browse available options before making a purchase.
Based on these findings, option one is recommended for users who have a specific retailer in mind and prefer a more direct approach. Option two is better suited for users who enjoy browsing and exploring a variety of options before making a purchase. By understanding these user preferences, we can tailor the UX/UI design to create a more personalized and satisfying experience for our customers, aligning with their specific needs and browsing habits.
After analyzing the results of the A/B tests, it is clear that option one emerges as the preferred choice for implementation. This option offers a more intuitive and user-friendly experience compared to option two. With minimal friction and a seamless flow, option one provides users with a streamlined and effortless journey.
The simplicity and ease-of-use of option one contribute to its recommendation. Users found this design to be more intuitive, allowing them to navigate through the process without confusion or unnecessary steps. By reducing complexity and providing a straightforward path to their desired retailer, option one ensures a positive user experience.
Implementing option one will result in a more frictionless and user-centric approach, enhancing the overall usability of our voucher purchasing feature. By prioritizing simplicity and intuitiveness, we can offer our users a seamless experience that aligns with their expectations and provides a hassle-free journey from start to finish.
We have developed a comprehensive dashboard that enables us to track the sales of vouchers and gather valuable statistics on users' behavior. This powerful tool allows us to gain deep insights into the performance of our voucher purchasing feature and understand how users interact with our platform.
The dashboard provides real-time data on voucher sales, giving us visibility into the popularity of different vouchers and helping us identify trends and patterns. By analyzing this information, we can make data-driven decisions to optimize our offerings and ensure that we provide the most relevant and desirable vouchers to our customers.
Furthermore, the dashboard provides valuable statistics on users' behavior, offering insights into their browsing patterns, preferences, and engagement levels. We can identify which categories or retailers are attracting the most attention, allowing us to tailor our offerings to match users' interests. This data also helps us enhance the user experience by identifying any pain points or areas for improvement, ultimately leading to a more seamless and satisfying journey for our users.
With this dashboard in place, we have a powerful tool at our disposal to monitor and analyze the sales performance and user behavior associated with our voucher purchasing feature. By leveraging these insights, we can continually refine our strategies, make informed decisions, and deliver a superior experience to our valued customers.
